NSS - Profile
National Service Scheme (NSS)
The National Service Scheme (NSS), established in 1969 to commemorate the centenary of the Father of the Nation, has evolved into a significant initiative in the realm of community service. Initially launched in 37 universities with just 40,000 selfless volunteers, NSS has demonstrated remarkable growth over the years. Today, it boasts an impressive network of over 3.8 million volunteers spanning across 396 universities, polytechnics, and more than 47 +2 level councils. The dedicated contributions of NSS volunteers have garnered widespread acclaim from various sectors, including communities, educational institutions, and the general public, as they engage in altruistic service aimed at bettering society.
The primary objective of NSS is to nurture the personal development of students through meaningful social and community service. At our college, we proudly operate five NSS units, comprising a vibrant cohort of 500 enthusiastic student volunteers, each committed to the cause.
**Aim:**
This initiative seeks to ignite a profound spirit of social service among students while ensuring that community assistance is delivered with fairness and impartiality. NSS volunteers work diligently to ensure that every individual in need receives the support required to uplift their quality of life and uphold their dignity. Through their experiences, volunteers gain invaluable insights from rural communities on the art of thriving with limited resources. Moreover, NSS plays a crucial role in providing aid during both natural and human-made disasters by distributing essential items such as food, clothing, and first aid supplies to those affected.

- Cultivate an understanding of the community in which they reside or serve;
- Foster self-awareness regarding their identity in relation to that community;

- Instill a deep sense of social and civic responsibility within themselves;
- Utilize their knowledge to develop practical solutions for individual and community challenges;
- Enhance the skills necessary for harmonious communal living and the equitable sharing of responsibilities.
- Through these efforts, NSS aims not only to uplift communities but also to empower students, shaping them into conscientious and responsible citizens.Gain skills in mobilizing community participation;

- Practice national integrity and social harmony.
